Lumena: deine Begleiterin für die Wechseljahre 🌺

Lumena is a mobile application for females in perimenopause, menopause, and postmenopause. Its main goal is to facilitate the health needs of this target group and help reduce menopause symptoms. Together with the omo Health team, we built a wellness application that contains dietary and lifestyle suggestions for improving the life quality in menopause age.

This application contains four main functionalities:

  • Daily Check-In for mood, symptom, and trigger tracking

  • Wissen: informative stories collected into chapters, based on the user input

  • Einblicke: statistics page with some valuable insights about the past two weeks

  • Monatlicher Bericht: monthly reports with comprehensive information about the accuracy of symptoms and potential triggers

In this project, I took a role of a design lead and participated in all stages of creating the MVP.

Below is the brainstorming process for our user persona after five interviews we conducted with females in perimenopause.

Heute — Today. The main page of the mobile application. It is designed to attract users’ attention to the Daily Check-In, present personalized stories, and give advice for the most accurate problem that appeared in the Daily Check-Ins.

One of the main functionalities of the application is symptoms and triggers tracking. We motivate females to complete Daily Check-Ins at least three times per week so that we can give them a comprehensive monthly report where we highlight potential triggers of the symptoms. For example, frequent consumption of spicy food can increase the frequency of hot flashes. In addition, we customize the order of the stories according to the given answers in the Daily Check-In.

Daily Check-In has a complex semantic structure. Questions can have different layouts and inputs, therefore, the design pattern is adaptable according to the survey algorithm. You can see the design of the questions below:

We educate females with informative stories. We decided that this format will work better compared to the long articles we saw in the competitors’ applications. The UX of this feature looks like Instagram stories, however, we do not use a timer. Since every user can have a different reading speed and every story can have a diverse amount of content. We only set the maximum amount of signs in one story.

All stories are divided into chapters or series. You can see the Wissen (Knowledge) screen and the layout of the stories below.

Einblicke (Insights) is a page where users can track the frequency of their symptoms, see how often a particular symptom is presented in the Daily Check-Ins of other users, and review the Monthly report.

This page has a different semantic structure according to the user flow. Since we will not have enough data about a particular user, in the beginning, we show more general information based on the onboarding questions the user has filled in. Later on, the structure of the screen is changing by showing more personalized content and a piece of daily advice.

This project was led by a doctor. Therefore, all medical and lifestyle suggestions were proven by medical professionals and written in an understandable language for people without a medical background.

This application was created for omo Health.
